The Wieliczka Salt Mine (10 km from Cracow) was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. A bit earlier it officially became a Polish historic monument. "Wieliczka" is very popular among tourists. People come here to tour the underground corridors, visit caves and chapels or even to benefit from the specific microclimate of the mine in special subterraneotherapy sessions. There are many galleries and footbridges in "Wieliczka". The lowest part is situated 300 m underground. The biggest and most impressive hall is St. Kinga's chapel named after the patron of miners / Jarosław Kubalski / Agencja Gazeta
