Castles and palaces. Legends about powerful kings and beautiful long-haired queens have a lot of fans. Medieval history lovers should definitely visit "The trail of the Eagles' Nests" in the Cracow-Częstochowa Upland (south Poland). The 160 km trail was named after 25 castle ruins located on cliffs that reminisce the nests of eagles. In the past the castles were built on the borders and served as fortresses. Most of them were built by Kazimierz the Great, Polish king. The king's successors have since built many beautiful palaces and manors. Some of them have been reconstructed and still look amazing / Grzegorz Skowronek / Agencja Gazeta
