Polish organisations in UK get awards from British Queen

Two Polish organisations in the United Kingdom have received the 2017 Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS).

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service The Tadeusz Kościuszko Polish Saturday School in Ealing, West London, provides language and cultural education for over 600 pupils.

The school was founded in 1950, its main task being to cultivate Polish traditions and history as well as to build good neighbourly relations.

The QAVS also went to the European Welfare Association (EWA) in Walsall, near Birmingham, an educational and cultural centre, which also runs a Saturday school, currently attended by 317 children in the 3-18 age bracket.

EWA’s programme includes English language courses for adults, music classes, sports activities and liaising between the Polish community in West Midlands and local police, health service and regional authorities.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK.
