Copernicus Science Centre

In the Copernicus Science Centre (CSC) in Warsaw, science is tested by means of direct experience and experiments. Exhibits are not hidden behind glass panes, but encourage personal engagement in discovering and understanding the world.

It is a place for people who do not hesitate to board a flying carpet, lie on a fakir's bed or put a hand in a mini-tornado. Although the Centre was founded with young people in mind, the experiments that may be carried out there are based on solid scientific grounds and are enjoyed by both children and adults.

Visitors have access to hundreds of exhibits in six interdisciplinary exhibitions that occupy several thousand square metres. The electrifying High-Voltage Theatre and world's first Robotic Theatre are worth noting. During the classes in laboratories participants can experiment like real scientists.

A visit in the Heavens of Copernicus Planetarium – one of the most modern facilities of this type in Europe – is an unforgettable experience. The shows organised there take the spectators to the distant nooks of the Solar System and of our galaxy. Around the CSC's building, a Discovery Park is located, with art exhibits presenting sound effects, an open air gallery and a summer stage.

The Copernicus Science Centre is one of the largest science centres in Europe. The Centre co-organises the Science Picnic – the largest open air event for the promotion of science on our continent, as well as workshops, shows, festivals and special adult-only night shows.

The Copernicus Science Centre is a cultural institution, established and financed by the Capital City of Warsaw, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of National Education. The Copernicus Science Centre is open to visitors from Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and is closed on Monday. The Heavens of Copernicus Planetarium is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (with the end of the last show at 8:00 p.m.). On Monday the planetarium is closed. The call centre is open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
