Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter awarded Poland’s Gloria Artis medal
World-famous German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter has been awarded Poland’s gold Gloria Artis medal for services to the arts.
She received the medal from Poland’s Culture Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński in a ceremony in Warsaw.
Gliński said Mutter’s contribution to Polish-German relations in the field of culture, “but not limited to culture, cannot be overestimated.”
Mutter launched her international career four decades ago. She has received many honours, including four Grammy awards.
For many years she worked closely with Poland's Krzysztof Penderecki, one of the greatest living composers.
Poland has awarded Gloria Artis medals for artistic achievement and services to culture since 2005.
