Rover designed by Częstochowa students wins US competition
Students from the Częstochowa University of Technology won the 2018 University Rover Challenge. 90 teams from around the world took part in the competition.
The victorious students make up the PCz Rover Team. They created their first rover in 2014. Their project claimed 10th place at the University Rover Challenge. Last year, the rover, designed by students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science of the Częstochowa University of Technology, took third place.
This year's competition lasted three days and took pace out in the desert in the US state of Utah. The tasks facing the contesters included collecting soil samples, overcoming difficult terrain and making necessary repairs. The students from Częstochowa collected 374 points. They edged out the Missouri S & T Mars Rover Design Team and another Polish team consisting of students from Kielce University of Technology. Also taking part in the competition were students from Lodz University of Technology, University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology and Rzeszów University of Technology.
