Students from Adam Mickiewicz University and the University of Economics in Poznań took first place in Europe in the Global Online Marketing Academic Challenge (GOMAC) 2018.
The students spent several months preparing and then ran a 3-week marketing campaign integrating the Google Ads (AdWords), Facebook and LinkedIn platforms. The competition campaign was carried out for Ogarniamprad.pl, Poland`s first auction platform that allows real-time bidding for purchase and sale of energy as part of group reverse auctions, informed a representative of Adam Mickiewicz University.
The team consists of the captain - Mateusz Halicki from the University of Economics in Poznań and Dawid Śliwiński, Sebastian Jastrzębski and Aleksander Kempa from Adam Mickiewicz University. The team`s supervisor is Dr. Wojciech Czart.
As European winners, the students will fight for the title of the GOMAC 2018 Global Winner.
GOMAC is organized by the Global Online Marketing Academics (GOMA), the community of academic teachers specializing in digital marketing. The GOMA community includes members of GOMC Global Academic Panel, Google, as well as academic teachers who are members of GOMC Academics. The purpose of the Global Online Marketing Academic Challenge is to continue the achievements of the Google Online Marketing Challenge, which had its last edition in 2017.
GOMAC allows students to gain practical experience in planning and running a real campaign for a real company, while incurring real costs. Before leaving the university walls, students have the opportunity to gain real experience in the real market. In addition, as part of GOMAC, students have all digital technologies available at the moment at their disposal (devices, applications, platforms, channels, etc.) and can use those technologies to plan an integrated digital marketing campaign and run it.
The team supervisor Dr. Czart teaches e-commerce and internet marketing at the Computer Technology and Internet of Things Applications courses at the Faculty of Physics. The Internet of Things Applications is a joint course of Adam Mickiewicz University and the University of Economics in Poznań. Dr. Czart also teaches classes in English for international exchange students from the AMU-PIE Program. 2017 course students were also the European Winners of the Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC) 2017. In addition, since 2009, 6 teams supervised by Dr. Czart have been in the European Top 5 of GOMC, and 10 made it to the semi-final (since 2011 defined as Top 15 Europe).
